Nation Starting To Realize New Era Of American Innovation Never Gonna Happen

WASHINGTON—After nearly a decade of promises that the nation was on the brink of a technological, economic, and scientific golden age, citizens across the country confirmed Monday they are now realizing a bold new era of American innovation is just flat-out not gonna happen.
Citing the fragile economy and an exceedingly volatile political landscape, many Americans told reporters they are now fairly certain that the chances of the United States spearheading global advancements within the likes of biotechnology, health care, or manufacturing are pretty much zilch.
“I always hear politicians talk about America being at the forefront of technological achievement, and it’s just now hitting me how completely absurd that sounds,” said 37-year-old Seattle resident Daniel Townsend. “They’ve been saying that stuff for years as if it’s always right around the corner. If we’ve really been at a crossroads with the next wave of cutting-edge innovation at our fingertips, wouldn’t we have seen at least one huge breakthrough by now? Like something more important and life-changing than a new type of phone?”
This kind of world, sources agreed, is just not happening anytime soon.
“God, even hearing myself say the words ‘next wave of cutting-edge innovation’ out loud makes the whole thing sound even more ridiculous,” Townsend added. “Can anyone honestly say they feel like America is leading the rest of the world into a bold new tomorrow?”

Oh wow, I’m really surprised the family was relieved. Thanks for reporting, CNN.

It’s okay to talk fashion sometimes. It’s not okay to spend 85% of a news program talking about fashion.

It’s okay to talk fashion sometimes. It’s not okay to spend 85% of a news program talking about fashion.

Only one group is to blame for the continuing suffering: the House majority and their Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). [Historically] disaster relief was something that you didn’t play games with, but now in this current atmosphere everything is a subject of one-upmanship. It is why the American people hate Congress.
Conservative conspiracy theories already all over the internet.

This is insane. And sad. And heartbreaking. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

From The Conservative Treehouse, here’s a taste of these delusions, which only get crazier and crazier as they go on:

  • According to the official story, Adam Lanza was found with his older brother’s ID, and it was not stolen. However, older brother Ryan–who officials say is very cooperative–claims not to have even seen his brother since 2010. Where would Adam get this ID?
  • What did he kill himself with? Kinda hard to use a .223 long gun.
  • According to the official story, 28 people died only 1 was wounded. The dead included 20 small, squirmy children — difficult targets even for professionals. How could Adam Lanza achieve such amazingly deadly accuracy, in such a short length of recorded time?
  • With a bazillion media there, staked out anyway, how did they pull off the body transport without even a single highpower telephoto lens photo? You know some media would have staked out the morgue too?
  • Did the school have one or more security cameras CCTV? You would think with a “buzz-in” entry system they would have at least one camera on the door, no?
  • Why did police assign an individual state trooper to every grieving family? Has this ever been done before?

If you think this is bad… don’t read the comments.

Sometimes, I lose hope for people. For mankind.

I really do.

And it’s not because of the mass murderers.

Fuck you, media.

sickeninglyliberal:

Fuck you for your irresponsible, unforgivable reporting on this tragedy.

Fuck you for interviewing traumatized children.

Fuck you for confronting a man and telling him that his ex-wife and over two dozen others were shot dead by his son.

Fuck you for calling the 78 year old distraught grandma of the shooter and mother of the deceased Nancy and expecting her not to breakdown and cry. Fuck you for publishing that that happened.

Fuck you for reporting that the wrong brother was the shooter.

Fuck you for saying that mom was a teacher at the school, just because some parent outside of the school said it.

Fuck you for trying to profile the shooter, the mom, and every other member of his family.

Fuck you for already pointing at a “divorced family,” “autism,” and “personality disorder” for some sort of explanation.

Fuck you for assuming motives. Fuck you ABC News for having a video titled “Why did Adam Lanza Snap?”

Fuck you for making him a star.

Fuck you for pulling quotes from Facebook profiles and blogs and Twitter and anyone who may have had some sort of interaction with someone involved in the tragedy, no matter how insignificant or brief.

Fuck you for just making shit up for page views and then recanting while pointing fingers.

Fuck you for calling yourselves journalists and what you do journalism.

You enjoy this. You love this. And you don’t even try and hide it anymore.

One sure way to determine the social conscience of a government is to examine the way taxes are collected and how they are spent. And one sure way to determine the social conscience of an individual is to get his tax reaction. Taxes, after all are the dues we pay for the privilege of membership in an organized society.

If President Obama wants to get anything done in his second term, Democrats in the Senate will have to overcome one major obstacle: the filibuster.

In the last four years, Republicans have used the filibuster to prevent landmark pieces of legislation — such as the DREAM Act, the Paycheck Fairness Act and additional measures to stimulate the economy — from even reaching the floor for debate, let alone a vote. Republicans have shattered previous records for filibuster use, and the share of bills introduced in the Senate that have been passed has reached an all-time low.

“Mitch McConnell has orchestrated a strategy of killing bills in the middle of the night,” Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., a leading advocate of filibuster reform, said in an interview Saturday on Up w/ Chris Hayes. Merkley said the abuse of the filibuster had warped the Senate, making it a far less productive place than it has been for most of its history. “The Senate is completely different today. It’s paralyzed and broken today in a way no one could have envisioned a couple of decades ago.”

In some parts of rural Maine, there were dozens, dozens of black people who came in and voted on Election Day. Everybody has a right to vote, but nobody in town knows anyone who’s black. How did that happen?
